Poetry

Group Number:1.66
Place: United Reformed Church
Day: 4th Tuesday of the month
Time: 10.30 am
Cost:£2.00

Definitive meeting times for the current month are shown in the Monthly Calendar.

Each meeting starts with sharing knowledge of the life and work of a particular poet. This is followed by poetry on a particular theme and, time permitting, members are invited to share their favourite poem with the Group. The choice of poets and themes is decided by the group members at each meeting so, in true u3a style, the group is run by the members for the members.

The main object of the group is to expand everyone's enjoyment of the genre by learning about particular poets and sharing the results with their fellow members, some of whom may not yet appreciate just how wide ranging and enjoyable poetry can be.

Also it is hoped that we can invite local poets along to share their experience with us. So, if you don't want to miss an opportunity to enhance your life, come along and join us.

New members are welcome. No pressure to read poems or compose them. Friendly group with enthusiastic members.

NOTE: The meeting on April 26th meeting is the 9th anniversary of the group!

Meeting Schedule

The Monthly Calendar is selected in advance for the entire year with items chosen by members, so each meeting has a fixed subject for the poet/s and the theme. The Calendar will be sent to the group via Beacon before the end of the current year.
